Beverages » Kosher Wines 101
TJ Douglas, co-owner of The Urban Grape reveals the new age of kosher winemaking in this beginner's tutorial. If you still believe that all kosher wines are strictly from Israel and taste like grape soda, this segment is targeted to you. TJ gives recommendations of quality wines from different growing regions around the world that are certified kosher, and explains terminology and process in layman's terms. So "lay fallow" your previous notions of kosher wines (you'll have to watch the video to get that pun) and explore this dramatically improved method of winemaking.
TJ Douglas
TJ Douglas' career in foodservice started as a kid in Vermont who washed dishes to earn money "for mini golf and to take girls to movies." TJ has worked as a manager overseeing operations at a renown restaurant on Newbury Street in Boston. However, growing tired of working 90 hours a week in the restaurant business, he moved into wine sales, gaining knowledge of wine as well as industry connections through his many sales accounts. Today, he co-owns The Urban Grape with his wife Hadley, a boutique wine store that uses progressive shelving to make wine more understandable and approachable to all levels of wine drinkers. TJ and Hadley are excited to see their son grow up stacking bottles in the store and learning about people and the world through wine. They hope to create community, memories and joy when sharing their wine knowledge with customers.
