What's the best way to sliver whole almonds?

    It is really hard to sliver whole almonds yourself, even in the food processor with a slicing attachment. If you want to try to slice them with a REALLY sharp knife (although it still seems hazardous!), zap them in the microwave for 10-20 seconds to heat them to a soft enough consistency that you can run the knife through them. Honestly, I would save yourself the time and trouble by buying packaged, pre-slivered almonds.
