Food Field Trips » What is a Pluot?
A cross between a plum and an apricot, a pluot is a versatile stone fruit. Both sweet and tangy, you can use it in salads, for making preserves, baked in a Plum & Strawberry Pie or used in a savory Roasted Pork w/ Stone Fruit Mostarda. Lots of possibilities for this juicy little beauty.
Miranda Russell
At age 19 Miranda began working at Russell Orchards in Ipswich, MA, making bouquets from the flower garden in the morning, ringing up sales during the day, and baking pies at night. Eventually she and her husband took over the company. The pride Miranda takes in providing healthy food to her customers is evident in the joy she draws from the honest hard work of life on a farm.
