If you are a lover of the Manhattan cocktail: meet Rob Roy. This smoky martini of blended scotch and sweet vermouth was invented at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in the late 1800's, named after Scottish folk hero Rob Roy MacGregor who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Follow Teddy Bourgeois' perfect proportions for this classic cocktail that is STIRRED, not shaken.
Ingredients
- 2¼ oz blended scotch
- ¾ oz sweet vermouth
- 2-3 dashes bitters
- ice to fill pint glass or shaker
- cherry to garnish
How-to
- Add all the ingredients to a pint glass or shaker
- Fill with ice and stir well until very cold, about 20 seconds
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry
