Kick Up Your BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
Ancho Chile-Chocolate BBQ Sauce
- 2 tbsp ancho chile powder (from 2 pods of dried ancho chilies, lightly roasted then seeded & chopped) or store-purchased ancho chile powder
- 2 tbsp cocoa nibs
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cups BBQ sauce (your favorite type)
How-to
- Roast ancho chilies at 350º for 2 minutes just to soften them. Then remove stem and seeds and chop, working quickly before chilies harden. Or you can use store-purchased ancho chile powder
- In a saucepan over medium heat, add butter and cocoa nibs and slowly pan roast the cocoa nibs until aromatic and smelling like brownies and mixture gets foamy
- Add the ancho chilies and your favorite BBQ sauce. Simmer about 15 minutes, place in a blender and puree until a smooth consistency is achieved
