Apple Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2½ lbs apples (Cortland or Macoun), cored & rough chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2-3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp water or apple cider

Special Equipment

  • chinois or fine-mesh strainer

How-to

  1. Place all ingredients in a pot and cover
  2. Bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium and cook for 20-30 minutes
  3. Strain through a chinois or fine mesh strainer
  4. Return to stove for 5-7 minutes to rewarm
  5. Apple sauce will keep in the refrigerator for 5 days
