Creamy Grits
Serves 6-8 hearty portions
Ingredients
- 5+ cups water
- 1½ - 2 cups slow-cooking grits, yellow or white
- 1 stick of butter (½ cup)
- salt to taste
How-to
- Bring water to a boil
- Add butter
- Add grits and whisk the mixture steadily until it comes to a boil
- Cook for 1-2 hours, continually stirring to avoid sticking to bottom of pan
- If grits become too think, simply add more water. When grits are close to serving, stop adding water so they won't be too runny
- Add salt to taste. Grits should be creamy and soft with no gritty texture
