House Special Rice in Lotus Leaf
Ingredients
- 1 dried lotus leaf
Other Ingredients - All Amounts Are To Taste
- long-grain rice, cooked per package instructions
- pinch of salt
- pinch of MSG (monosodium glutamate - used to intensify flavors)
- pinch of chicken bouillon powder
- pinch of pepper
- maki seasoning (or soy sauce), to taste
- sesame oil
- celery, chopped
- cooked ham, chopped
- hard boiled egg, chopped
How-to
- Soak lotus leaf in water for a few hours, then dry until soft and pliable and set aside
- In a bowl of cooked rice, add salt, MSG, chicken bouillon powder, pepper, maki seasoning and sesame oil and massage ingredients into the rice
- Add celery, ham, hard-boiled egg and mix to incorporate all ingredients
- Scoop a tightly packed bowl of the rice mixture and place in the center of the lotus leaf
- Fold, wrap and roll the lotus leaf tightly
- Place lotus leaf packet on steamer, seam side down, and steam over boiling water for 15 minutes
- Cut lotus leaf open (careful of hot steam) and serve
