General Gau's Chicken
Serves 2
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken thigh or breast, cut into chunks
- 1 bunch broccoli
- 1 tsp salt
- 2½ tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 3 tsp white vinegar
- ½ tsp ginger powder
- ½ tsp white pepper powder
- 3 tsp sugar
- ½ cup water
- scallions for garnish
General Gau's Sauce
- 2½ tsp sugar
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- ½ tsp salt
- 2½-3 tsp white vinegar
- ½ tsp oyster sauce
- ½ tsp crushed garlic
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- ⅓ tsp dark soy sauce
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp chili powder
- scallions for garnish
How-to
- Mix chicken, salt, oil, vinegar, spices and sugar and allow to marinate for 1-2 minutes
- Coat chicken with cornstarch
- Heat oil to 350º and slowly add chicken piece by piece to deep fryer
- Cook 5-10 minutes
- Set aside to drain
- Heat water in a wok and add broccoli, cook until bright green then remove and set aside
Prepare General Gau Sauce & Add Chicken
- In a pre-heated pan or wok, add vegetable oil, sauce ingredients and turn up heat. If sauce is too thick add more general gau's sauce
- Add chicken and toss together
- Plate broccoli and chicken and garnish with chopped scallions & serve
