Sturdy Royal Icing
This icing is perfect for decorating a Gingerbread House!
Ingredients
- ½ cup meringue powder
- 12 cups powdered sugar (Seems like a lot of powdered sugar but the icing will be thick & sticky which is exactly what you want!)
- 1¼ cups water
Special Equipment
- stand mixer with paddle attachment
How-to
- Add all ingredients to stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment
- Start mixer on low and mix ingredients on low or medium-low speed (no faster) for 7 minutes until consistency is thick and sticky and forms peaks. (If consistency is too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar; if too stiff, add a touch more water)
Options
- Leave icing white or divide into separate containers and add food colorings of choice for decorating
- Store covered, at room temperature, if not using immediately
