Spoon Bread

Serves 3

Ingredients

Bowl 1

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 qt buttermilk
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup molasses

Bowl 2

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cup cornmeal
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp baking soda

Honey Butter

  • ¾ cup butter, room temperature
  • ¼ cup honey

How-to

  1. Preheat oven to 400°
  2. In Bowl 1, combine 5 eggs, 1 qt buttermilk, ¼ cup sour cream and ¼ cup molasses
  3. In Bowl 2, combine 2 cups flour, 2 cups cornmeal, 1½ cups sugar, 2 tbsp baking powder, 2 tbsp baking soda
  4. Mix both bowls together
  5. Bake in greased pan at 400° for 15-20 minutes until golden brown
  6. Top with a generous helping of honey butter (see instructions below)

Make Honey Butter

  1. In a small bowl mix butter and honey until smooth
  2. Store, covered, in the refrigerator
