Vanilla Vodka

Ingredients

  • 2 vanilla beans, (Madagascar and/or Mexican), chopped into 3 pieces each
  • 1 quart unflavored vodka

Special Equipment

  • sieve/strainer
  • 1 quart glass jar with lid
  • tape & marking pen
  • funnel
  • bottle with stopper for your finished product

How-to

  1. Placed chopped vanilla beans into a 1 quart mason jar and fill the jar with vodka
  2. Add the lid, label the jar with the date and give it a good shake
  3. Every day over the next 5 days, give the jar a shake. Mixture will turn amber in color
  4. Start tasting at about 3 days and taste every day until the vanilla flavor comes through but no bitterness
  5. After 5 days (or desired flavor has been reached), strain into a bottle with a stopper and it's ready to serve
