Bacon-Infused Bourbon Bloody Mary
Ingredients
*Bacon-Infused Bourbon - Prepare 24 hours before making Blood Mary - Makes 1 liter
- 4 oz warm bacon grease (grease from about 2 lbs cooked bacon)
- 1 liter (4 cups) bourbon
Special Equipment
- coffee filter
- funnel
- 1 liter bottle with pouring spout
- fine-mesh strainer
Bloody Mary Mix
- 46 oz (5¾ cups) tomato juice
- 2 oz Tabasco sauce
- 4 oz Worcestershire sauce
- 4 oz milk stout beer
- 2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 6 tsp horseradish
- 2 dashes celery bitters
- zest of 1 lemon
Cocktail - Makes 1
- ice to fill 14-16 oz glass
- 2 oz Bacon-Infused Bourbon (see How-to)*
- 6 oz Bloody Mary mix
Garnish
- 1 strip crispy bacon as swizzle stick
How-to
Prepare Bacon-Infused Bourbon*
- Combine bacon grease and bourbon in a large, shallow container
- Cover and allow to sit for 24 hours at room temperature. This process is called “fat washing” the bourbon. The fat will solidify at the top of the mixture
- Place a coffee filter inside a fine-mesh strainer and pass mixture through strainer to remove all fat particles
- Funnel into a bottle and store at room temperature
Make Blood Mary Mix
- Mix together all Bloody Mary mix ingredients in a medium-sized container
